Advanced Alternative Treatment for Dermatomyositis

Dermatomyositis

Dermatomyositis is an autoimmune and neuromuscular disease sometimes known as a connective tissue disease, which refers to the abnormalities in the collagen or elastin it causes. Dermatomyositis is a member of the Myositis family of diseases that are characterized by persistent, chronic muscle inflammation. Myositis usually results in the weakening of muscles and can cause swelling and pain. Dermatomyositis is more common in women although it can affect both women and men. It is a fairly rare condition, affecting only 120 out of every million women. Some research has linked cancer as a potential trigger for Dermatomyositis in men.

Symptoms of Dermatomyositis

The main symptoms of Dermatomyositis are muscle weakness and pain, generally beginning at the hips and legs. The muscle pain may make walking or climbing stairs difficult. Some people will develop a dark red rash on upper chest, neck, and face. Other symptoms include trouble swallowing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
