Advanced Alternative Treatment for Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative Colitis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the colon and the lining of the large intestines, causing ulcers to form in the top most layer of the lining. Ulcerative Colitis is in the family of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, which are characterized by the body’s immune system attacking the digestive track. Ulcerative Colitis is farily rare with only thirty-five to one hundred people affected out of every 100,000 in the United States. The causes of Ulcerative Colitis are uncertain, although there seems to be a predisposition to the disease passed down genetically. Those already susceptible to the disease can be triggered by environmental factors such as diet. A specific Ulcerative Colitis diet is sometimes recommended. Stress may irritate the disease though this is not believed to be a direct cause.
Symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative Colitis symptoms wax and wane with periods of virtually no symptoms between bouts of intense symptoms. When in an active period, sufferers may experience tenderness in the stomach or torso, low-grade fever, an increased heart rate, dehydration, fatigue, anemia, cramps, and weight loss in extreme cases. Symptoms involving the bowels include pain, bowel urgency, and blood in loose stool.
